CARING FOR METALS

Anzie takes great pride in only using material from ethically responsible sources. All of our silver, gold and gemstones are conflict-free and collected from around the world.

Yellow Gold

ABOUT OUR YELLOW GOLD

Our yellow gold pieces are made with 14k gold, and any piece may be specially ordered in 18k gold. Gold, long considered to be one of earth’s most precious resources, is highly resilient. Though an enduring metal, gold is susceptible to discoloration and even disintegration when exposed to rough surfaces and harsh chemicals, especially bleach.

We exclusively source Royal Canadian Mint Grain Gold, ensuring that Anzie jewelry is made of environmentally sustainable, socially responsible and conflict-free gold.

HOW TO CLEAN

Our gold pieces can be easily maintained by cleansing with warm water mixed with dishsoap and a soft toothbrush, or other non-abrasive jewelry cleansers. When cleaning with water, let it soak for 10-15 minutes, then gently brush with soap mixture, being extra gentle around any gemstones. Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water. When drying, do not rub the piece and opt for blotting it dry. Try to avoid putting gold pieces with gemstones into chemical solutions.

We recommend regularly polishing your gold pieces with a jewellery cloth.

Anzie offers complimentary in-store professional cleaning and we welcome you to bring your jewelry in as needed.

White Gold

ABOUT OUR WHITE GOLD

Our white gold is produced by alloying 14k gold with nickel and zinc to create a bright white metal. It has a rhodium plating to maintain its bright white tone, and needs to be re-plated over time to avoid yellowing.

HOW TO CLEAN

Like yellow gold, white gold must be properly cared for and should not be put in contact with rough surfaces and harsh chemicals like bleach.

White gold can be cleaned at home using warm, soapy water and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Let it soak for 15-20 minutes, then gently brush, especially around settings and crevices, being extra careful around any gemstones. Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water. Pat dry and polish with a soft cloth. Other non-abrasive jewelry cleansers can also be used to clean white gold.

Over time, this plating on white gold can wear off and the gold may look slightly yellowish. Cleaning won’t fix that; replating by a jeweler is the solution (usually needed every 1–3 years).

Rose Gold

ABOUT OUR ROSE GOLD

Our rose gold is produced by alloying 14k gold with copper to yield a beautiful rose hue. Rose gold must be properly cared for and should not be put in contact with rough surfaces and harsh chemicals like bleach.

HOW TO CLEAN

To clean rose gold jewelry, soak it for 10-15 minutes in warm water mixed with a few drops of mild dish soap. Gently brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry with a microfiber or lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleaners such as toothpaste, baking soda, vinegar, ammonia, or chlorine, as these can damage the metal. Because rose gold is softer, clean it gently and only when needed, and consider professional cleaning if it becomes scratched, dull, or has loose stones.

Sterling Silver

ABOUT OUR STERLING SILVER

Sterling silver is also known as 925 silver. All sterling silver is rhodium plated to prevent the jewelry from tarnishing and maintain the bright color of the white metal.

HOW TO CLEAN

We recommend that pieces be professionally cleaned once a year. Chemical solutions should not be used as maintenance in between professional cleanings.

We suggest using a diluted solution of lukewarm water and liquid dishwashing soap and scrubbing the piece with a soft bristle toothbrush. When finished, it must be thoroughly rinsed off and dried well with an untreated cloth.

For optimal preservation, store your silver pieces in a sealed plastic bag to prevent oxidization.
